About Regen Armor
Regen armour is considered as inferior armour type by many players, and Regen hulls are thus widely avoided. The reason for this is the disadvantagous distribution of strengths and weaknesses: it is strong vs. kinetic, but weak vs heat damage. Kinetic occurs almost only in ballistic weapons (and a few ship-based ones), but ballistic ships are just as likely to use Heat weapons. Also, Heat is the single most common damage type, so it is the worst type to be vulnerable to.
This is also one reason why Cruisers are a relatively unpopular ship type -- many Cruiser hulls use Regen armour, and more useful armour types are few and far between.
