About Documentation conventions

The main benefit to such conventions as these is self-consistency which leads to clarity. Yes, the game uses much looser definitions, this is a hinderance to understanding and may, in some ways, be a purposful obfuscation. The objective of this wiki is to clarify and not to intensify the murkiness.

Documentation and Nomenclature Conventions

Note: This follows Fleet Design Documentation Conventions

A fleet has a leading edge or front. In these diagrams, the front is at the top. Other terminology is Rank and File, corresponding to rows and columns, with the first rank at the top and the first file being on the left.
